Decision date: March 8, 2012 - Winnipeg, MB

Two teen girls have been cleared of attacking a classmate with a paddle during an apparent hazing ritual for new students at a south Winnipeg high school.

The girls, both 18, were acquitted of assault with a weapon charges Thursday morning after a short trial earlier this week. They can’t be identified because they were youths at the time of the Oct. 21, 2010, hazing.

Chapman said she was left with doubt about who was the real aggressor in the case after hearing testimony from both accused girls and other witnesses.
